Every three minutes, a food allergy reaction sends someone to the emergency room in the United States. A life-altering and potentially life-threatening disease, food allergies affect 32 million Americans.
Right now, there is no treatment or cure for food allergy... but there is HOPE.
My name is Romi Michaels, and I have life threatening allergies to dairy and tree nuts. Ever since I was a baby, I have experienced severe allergic reactions sending me to the hospital 6 times and I have been administered the epi-pen 3 times due to anaphylaxis.
That's why for my Bat Mitzvah Project, I have decided to raise funds for FARE (Food Allergy Research & Education) to help them fulfill their mission to improve the quality of life and the health of individuals with food allergies, and to provide them hope through the promise of new treatments.
I am becoming a Bat Mitzvah on December 19th, 2020. I am asking for donations from family and friends to achieve my goal by December 19th, 2020, to to raise as much money as possible in honor of the 32 million Americans with food allergies. Any amount helps, and when you donate, you help FARE to fund food allergy education programs, advocacy and awareness initiatives, and world-class research. Together, we can create a better future for all who are affected by food allergies, including me.
Sadly, there are countless stories of people who have unfortunately lost their life to an allergic reaction. If you want to learn more about food allergies and anaphylaxis, I suggest you watch Caroline's Story, which touched me in a personal way. youtube.com/watch?v=TmJhib70KKc&t=62s.
I am so thankful for my friends and especially my family who have helped keep me safe and I am grateful for those of you who are helping me by donating to this cause that is very close to my heart.
